Happy Thursday!!
Have you heard about Care & Share? If not, here is just a TINY bit about them. They are an organization that offers assistance to East Lyme & Salem families in need. This organization is non-profit and staffed by approximately 130 volunteers! How amazing is that?! Some of the services they provide include: food baskets, scholarships, & a holiday store.
Every year, the firefighters from IAFF Local 3377, in partnership with Tri-Town Foods, donate turkeys to Care & Share to help with their Thanksgiving food baskets. They asked me to photograph them which gave me an opportunity to see the volunteers in action!
This year, while I was there I got to speak with Pam, one of the wonderful volunteers. She mentioned that their holiday store (a space where clients can shop for free gifts for immediate family) was in need of toys, games, or other items geared towards older children and teens. So I decided to offer a special mini session event in which the customers donated new/unwrapped toys in exchange for photos.
I got to meet 13 wonderful families during this event and thanks to their generosity, I was able to deliver 40 new toys to add to their holiday store!
While I was there to deliver the toys, I got a chance to take some photos of the store and some of the volunteers who were working hard to get it ready for the families.
