Every little girl dreams of becoming a princess. I’d be lying if I didn’t want to be one myself. Fortunately, a princess photo session with J. Marie Photography can help make that happen.
Meet Princess Brooklyn ❤️. Brooklyn came into the studio to model my newest addition to the studio wardrobe, ‘Unicorn Princess’. These gowns are so beautiful and are the perfect addition to any little girls photo session. Once a year I offer “Magical Mini Sessions” where they can dress up and feel just like a princess. Isn’t she an adorable princess??
Ben and Cara chose to celebrate their engagement with a session at Old Black Point Beach in Niantic, Connecticut. They, along with Ben’s family visit this beach often and so it was the perfect spot for their photos. When I chat with a client, I always ask if there is a place that holds some type of relevance to their relationship. Choosing a location that means something to you makes the resulting photos so much better, bringing out more authentic emotion, adding even more meaning.

Finding the right wedding venue takes a lot of time and research and can often be one of the hardest parts of planning a wedding. You need to make sure that your venue checks all the right boxes before you make a final decision.
Your venue will not only influence your budget, but the atmosphere of your day as well. To help you with that decision, here are a few important things to consider when choosing your wedding venue.
Venue size. Look at how many people you’re planning to invite to your wedding versus the number of people the venue can comfortably cater for. A crowded reception can be quite uncomfortable and if a venue is too large, it can affect the atmosphere and the overall look and feel. Put an initial guest list together before you start venue shopping so that you can make a better decision.
What about the drinks? Alcohol and drinks are a big part of your wedding so it’s important to find out whether you can bring your own alcohol and what the costs are or if the venue will supply the drinks. Since you will also need a licensed bartender to serve alcohol, find out whether the venue can assist with this so that you can factor those costs into your final budget.
Preferred vendors. You’re going to be working with several different vendors in the time leading up to and on your wedding day. Some venues require you to use their vendors so find out about this before you make a booking. If they do work with specific vendors, make sure that you’re happy with their experience, style, personality, and pricing. When a venue works with preferred vendors, it does mean they’re confident in their experience and ability to delivery but it’s more important for you to choose vendors that fit in with your budget and overall preferences.
There are many different factors to consider when choosing the perfect wedding venue but make sure that it’s a space that speaks to your personalities and style as a couple.

Jackie & Zach had an unexpected surprise for their engagement photos at Rocky Neck State Park in Niantic, CT. Just THREE days before their session was scheduled to happen, there was a snow storm that left us with almost a foot of snow. Well, if you know anything about me, you know that I LOVE taking photos in the snow!!
So, I suited up and off we went. We were lucky to find the ONLY bench without snow on it for some extra cuddle opportunities.
We ended the session overlooking the marsh with an AH-MAZING sunset… I couldn’t pass up a chance to capture them with this view.
This one is an oldie, but one of my favorite weddings. The Waters Edge Resort & Spa in Westbrook is a beautiful location for a wedding. Taryn & Bobby chose to have their ceremony down on the lawn overlooking the water. They chose to both say their vows to each other at the same time, which led to a lot of laughs (and some tears). We had the opportunity to utilize various parts of the property for their photos as well. Their reception space was decorated flawlessly, and as guests entered, the guest book was a bench that they could sign. Powerstation Events kept the music flowing and their friends and family out on the dance floor.
